François Gabart

Skipper, founder of MerConcept

Skipper, competitor, engineer, company manager, François Gabart is all at once. Multi-skilled, curious, with a knack for everything, the sailor made a sensational debut in ocean racing, winning the 2012/2013 Vendée Globe at just 29 years of age. As the youngest winner of this mythical round-the-world event, he proved his tremendous talent and rose to the rank of the greatest sailors, winning the Route du Rhum the following year, then forging an outstanding record of achievements on a giant 30 m long trimaran. Winner of the Transat Jacques Vabres, the English Transat and record holder for the solo round-the-world since 2017 with a time of 42 days, he is also a passionate business leader committed to innovative, high-performance and sustainable ocean racing. Convinced that any progress had to be meaningful and that the innovations in his discipline must serve the entire maritime world, François Gabart is today at the head of MerConcept, an impact-driven company that employs 60 people and acts in a manner which is respectful to women, men, the planet and the oceans.
